This is my attempt at a mechanical Omnitrix mechanism that resembles the movement of the Omnitrix from the original Ben10 series. Rotating the crown pushes the diamond sides laterally on tracks to overlap.

It is made of 8 pieces to make printing easier. No supports are needed apart from for the crown, and everything snaps together with no glue.

PLEASE IMPROVE MY DESIGN!
It gets stuck repeatedly and doesn't work the best, so please- improve my design!
If you find better ways please do make them and share them in the comments to let me know! Implement my design in a full omnitrix body, make it pop up when pressing the green button, everything is welcome!
