Mechanical Iris (no glueing)

A simple 16 leaf mechanical iris, about 4 mm thick. No glueing required. You will need the following parts:

stator: 1
rotor: 1
leaf: 16
pin: 16

The asymmetrical design allows the leaf to be very thin (0.2 mm). In a symmetrical design (leaf runs from one side of the ring to the other side of the ring), the leaf requires a certain stiffness which conflicts with the desire to make the leaf as thin as possible.

When you assemble the iris, please make sure that every single leaf rotates smoothly, if not, figure out why not and fix it. Take your time assembling it.

A silicone lubricant spray might be helpful.
