This is a memory coin for my son, with his face on one side and "DADDY LOVES YOU" on the other.
It was intended to look similar to the face of Lincoln (rounded facets all around), or any other coin you might find in your couch cushions, clothes dryer, or car seats.
I used Rhino to create a 3D height field of a color photograph of my son (which I converted to grayscale using Corel).
This created a large mesh, which I imported into TurboCAD 16, clipped the mesh into a circle, and created the rings with serrated edges, and the text.
This is a highly detailed project. I've attempted to build this design TWICE, with different scales and different settings, and both with success at first but failure before 1/4-way through the print process.
Good luck... see what you can do with it! I generally use CAD for architectural things, since I'm a home builder (general contractor) and insurance adjuster. I don't have much experience with complex curves. Otherwise, I have about 100
