This shock mount is for the *Samson Q2U* microphone. I saw some other designs that used hair bands to locate the mic body. I was intrigued to try that for myself. I found the mounting rings a bit clumsy, therefore I designed my own.

As you may be able to see on one of the pictures, I originally designed the ring for 5 hair bands, but found that I only needed 2 to hold the mic in place, even vertically. What does help is that the hair bands are of the extra gripy kind. Therefore the final design of the ring has only 4 pins for two hair bands.

I designed the connector beam so that the mic is well supported, without loss of access to the controls. I reused the base of the original mic holder to provide a screw mount to a standard mic stand. It might even be able to give you that extra height missing from the original included stand.

The design is done with *OpenSCAD* and the file is included, if you desire to mod the parts.
I printed in PETG as that was what I had on hand. Th
