So this is my first GrabCad competition. Everyone has submitted some pretty good/cool looking ideas. So on to describing this bad boy: this is my 5th attempt at the pressure switch. My other designs ended up having faults in the design or became too complex. The main body (excluding the hose ports and quick connects) is 7mm X 7mm X 14mm. It's mechanism is a Differential, Piezoelectric Diaphragm that works with both pressure and vacuum in either port to activate a Transistor Gate. The Ports are set up for a 4mm ID hose, but sleeves can be attached to bump the size up. Now I think the weight calculator is off alittle (maybe put a decimal in the wrong place) but it says it weights 167.53 grams. Works out to being just under half a pound. The part would require injection molding for the main housing, printing for the transistor, stamping/machining for the circuit parts and insert molding for the piezoelectrical/diaphragm/transistor part. All together, there are 15 pieces, 12 of which are duplicates. As for calibration, an adjustable regulator can be installed inbetween the Transistor Gate and the Piezo Circuit to adjust the tripping Voltage, which will have the added benefit to eliminate tripping from outside frequencies (Ex: Engine Vibration).
