This cage is designed to be a support for additional coverings (spandex and faux fur) to reduce wind noise for any microphones mounted inside. It is printed in multiple pieces and then assembled to create the final shape. Notes about each component are listed in Print Settings.
A note about thermal inserts...
You install these using a soldering iron with adjustable heat and turning it way down. Make sure the tip is clean and stick your thermal insert on it to warm it up. While it's still on the soldering iron, press it into the hole (smaller taper goes first). Make sure its far enough in where the thermal insert is slightly below the surface of the plastic.
Material:
I highly recommend you use Matterhackers PETG+Carbon Fiber. It's a bit more flexible than other brands I've tried. 3DXTECH works OK too, and is just a little more brittle. I've tried this with nylon (too soft), filled nylon (horrible shrinkage issues), and regular PETG. The best ended up being the carbon fiber fill
