Scale Train Track SignsBACKGROUNDFinding signs for your model train layout / track is difficult when modeling in scales larger than N or HO scale. It also depends on the railroad that you are modeling, USA, Europe, UK, New Zealand or Australia. The signs do vary across each of the forementioned regions with some of the signs being updated to newer versions. I have chosen some examples of older more traditional signs that you would find on railroads during the steam powered era.The “W” whistle sign is based from the Union Pacific Whistle sign, where as the “Shunt Limit” and “Yard Limit” oval shaped signs are more commonly found in the steam power times. Signs have been scaled to suit G Scale, 5” Scale, 7 ¼” Scale and 7 ¼ “ Narrow Scale. The full size “W” sign is 1’x1’ or (304.8 x 304.8mm).
