A simple expandable mounting for a smartphone.
- There is a lot of room for remixing on this design (adding more degrees of freedom).
- Making it more stable.
- Making it more lightweight.
This was a quick design, the main screw needed some rework post-processing (I had to cut off the knob then glue it back into place after threading it through the g-clamp base.
I have attached the *.STP file here so that everyone has full control of the design if it needs to be remixed.
All the parts are held together with M6x40 bolts and M6 lock screws (M6 washers as well)
You can tighten the bolts until the linkage is sufficiently tight.
I would suggest gluing on a rubber pad on both faces of the G-Clamp (where it interfaces with the table/mounting surface) , also a non-slip pad can be glued onto the smartphone holding surface.
I used some random extension springs on the two ends of the smartphone mounts to always keep tension on the phone.
