My conceptual design aims to improve moisture collection efficiency of current Enapter’s water trap application for AEM electrolyzer. It is a multistage separator, with non-moving parts, which makes use of centrifugal separation in a first chamber and adiabatic cooling in a second chamber stage. In the first chamber water droplets are pushed to the outer wall due to the centrifugal vortex formed. In the second stage the gas goes through a adiabatic expansion nozzle, which cools it down, further condensing water. From thermodynamics point of view, this stage can be modelled as an isentropic process. Finally, the gas impacts against a concentric plate for further gas-liquid separation. The wet hydrogen gas enters with 12000 ppmV H20 and the target output is 10 ppmV. Please check the .pdf file attached for more details about the device.
