A molecular modular set is a product derived from the professional master's work in science education at the Federal University of Pampa, by the author of this post. It is an educational resource for teaching organic chemistry, specifically addressing geometric isomerism and optical isomerism.
The single bond was designed to fit both carbon and oxygen, allowing free rotation and representing different conformations. However, the double bond has distinct characteristics, visually presenting a cut and a unique fitting that prevents rotation. This property enables the representation of geometric isomerism. This feature can also be observed in carbon, which has sp3 and sp2 versions, allowing joint representations with the double bond.
The molecular modular set consists of 7 pieces that can be independently printed in required quantities. The list of available pieces is as follows:
Single bond: LigacaoSimples.STL
Double bond: LigacaoDupla.STL
Hydrogen: Hidrogenio.STL
Oxygen: Oxige
