This is an idea, a DIY project, and a source of inspiration. We all have old laptops lying around at home or in the office that we can't bear to throw away or don't know what to do with. I disassembled two of them and removed the LCD panels. After some research, I bought an LCD driver board (it's sold as a complete kit with cables). Once I confirmed that they work via HDMI, I designed a very basic casing. I used nut inserts—they're not as reliable as proper threaded inserts, but they're holding up fine so far.
Here is the board number of the LCD driver: M.NT68676.3 (the main driver board; the power/electrical board is labeled GYT-DK0205). When you search for this board number, you'll see that it usually comes as a kit with multiple parts and cables: one board handles the LCD signal conversion (LVDS), another is for connecting your device (HDMI/VGA/DVI inputs), and the small one with buttons controls the LCD itself (OSD/menu functions, brightness, etc.).
