Rather than drop $80 on a chain compression kit that I'll only need every 10,000 miles at most, I figured I'd use my standard metal C-Clamp and print out a quick, easy, disposable block I can use to put over the pins, give it a squish, install the master clip and get on with my life!
Premise of operation: This little device has a back and a front. Put it on top of the chain with the back towards the joiner link and the front on the master clip side so that when you squish it with a vice, the pins come forward into the front holes without damage to the chain. Once sufficiently compressed you can un-clamp the device and use needle nose pliars to install the master clip.
Compatibility: this works with motorcycle chain 520 & 525. For 530 and 532, just cut the joining plastic so that it'll fit across the chain. It should also work with 415, 420, 428. It MIGHT work with 630, 632 which are larger, but it's only plastic. If you make the holes larger with a file, it might work afte
