Music Rolls were popular when the dinosaurs roamed the earth. They consist of a cardboard tube with a roll of paper that contained lines of horizontal square holes that corresponded with notes on a piano. The ends of this music roll were traditionally made of Bakelite or metal. The Bakelite one are fragile and easily broken. This project is a 3D printed set of replacement ends. They are compatible with the Mastertouch Music roll brand which I believe conform to 1908 Buffalo Convention Piano Roll Specifications.
One end is an idler and the other is a driver (that is used to quickly rewind the roll after playing). Each end consists of two parts:
- Idler and Flange
- Driver and Flange
All parts were designed in Fusion 360 and a version of the Flange in OpenSCAD is provided for customization of roll diameter
The Flange is printed separately for three reasons
1. A lot more time and support material is required to print as one 3D object
2. The Flange can be customized with Open
