MVent

Our design and prototyping of a low-cost portable mechanical ventilator are for the use of general mass and resource-poor environments. The ventilator delivers breaths by compressing a conventional bag-valve-mask (BVM) with a rack and geared mechanized arm, eliminating the need for a human operator for the BVM. An initial prototype was built out of sheet metal and 3D printing, measuring 11.81 × 8.31 × 13.25 in. And weighing approx. 8 lbs.
