In the lightless depths of the world, where the air is still and the stone is cold, dwell the Myconids. Known in the whispers of the Underdark as the Fungus Folk or The Spore-Born, these ambulatory entities are a peaceful kin. They shun the violence of flesh and blood, seeking only the sacred quiet of the dark to tend to their groves of rot and rebirth. To the eyes of a surface dweller, a Myconid appears as a towering mushroom granted the miracle of life. Standing anywhere from a stunted 2 feet to a towering 12 feet in height, their physiology is a strange mimicry of humanoid form carved from vegetation. A strange mutation occasionally blooms within the colonies, birthing a variant known as Venom Spores. These creatures are a stark contrast to their drably colored kin and serve as a living warning.
