I decided to build a version from scratch.
I saw the NASA chainmail, and the really good version by https://www.thingiverse.com/TurboDork, https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5049173/remixes
The problem I had was those things are really small and for people that have calibrated their printers well.
I started with a torus (donut) sized to print easy and be strong, tilted it to the side 45degrees.
I copied and pasted it, rotating it 60degrees on the z axis each time.
Pulled each torus out from a center point until the high point of a torus was over the low point of the next torus.
Linked the tops and bottoms of each torus together (kept making problems with the slicer understanding what was inside and outside)
Filled the middle together, and cut out the very center to use less filament and it kinda looked cool.
