My first attempt at making a nautilus shell in blender. It stands on a plate to keep it upright. I designed this to be painted and planted with tentacle-like plants to give the effect of a living nautiloid sculpture. Some simple math was involved in making this, and the spiral style is more akin to the extinct Mesozoic nautiloid Cenoceras rather than a typical extant nautilus. To make this in blender I used 400 stacked circles with each circle decreasing in size by 1% and curving at a 5-degree angle. Use and remix this model however you like.
