What if we could turn an everyday boring and conservative object into something truly alluring and enthralling? The perfect fusion of engineering and art... This was my challenge to develop an intriguing new design for an euro socket. I was looking for inspiration from nature, the best engineer and designer there is... I wanted something dramatic, fluid, dynamic, elegant, worthy of the spotlight, and timeless, until I found the perfect inspiration... Ladies and gentleman, I present you the Nautilus! The name comes from the pelagic marine mollusks of the cephalopod family Nautilidae. An animal so complex and fascinating that has always stimulated my mind and the minds of many other people, including Jules Verne in his science fiction novel "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea". The design was inspired by the shape of its involute shell. Its golden proportions are immediately appealing and elegant. More than an everyday object, this is art, worthy standing in plain sight for everyone to admire. It has 6 eurotype sockets and a power button on the back. The material would be Polypropylen with a glossy metalic finish and some combinations of paint to mimic stone and wood to make even more classic designs to match everyone's tastes. The finishes and color combinations could be chosen online. The dimensions are 192x160x64 (mm) (model included is scaled to 0.6x its real size) and an estimate on the price depending on the surface finishes would be around 30 euros. Hope you share my enthusiasm with this design. I would also like to thank Guilherme Parolin for allowing me to use and adapt his great nautilus shell design. Cheers!
