I think using the empty spool for the cable management is the best way to utilize the empty spools. The hinge is print in place and it works perfectly with the Ender3.

The print time is ~40min with 0.2 layer height and only 5g of plastic. Print with the tab side facing down and it's prints fine without any support for me.
