This is a surface discovered by Paul Nylander (www.bugman123.com) “while trying to create a visualization of a spiraling spin-lattice relaxation for a physics experiment involving a Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectrometer." The equations describing the surface are below. (Sorry for the red color, but I'm never sure if this will be displayed in dark or light mode.) I printed the sample in the image using PETG with PLA for support interfaces. There are a lot of supports, but they came off relatively easily. You could also use PLA/PVA. Since you cannot really sand/smooth the surfaces, ABS with appropriate supports is a good option, so you could use acetone smoothing. Carefully hitting it with a heat gun also works. The biggest problem I had when printing this on an H2C was PETG warping away from the PLA supports. It was also a 24-hour print.
