Do you know O-rings? For sure! But what is an » O-Ball « ? An "O-Ball" is a flexible, deformable and practical toy for babies, for learning to grip and to hold. My model shows a solid with 12 smaller rings and 20 bigger rings, which are connected to a ball with complete 32 rings and triangular connections between the rings for reinforcing. The ball has an enveloping circle diameter of approx. 97,5 mm and the cross section diameters of the rings are 3 mm. The minimal wall thickness is 0,8 mm. It tooks a longer time to find a solution for modelling it out. The way to find it out was more or less an action of "Try And Error". The file size of the native part is approx. 134 MB and the size of the zipped file is still approx. 49 MB. If anyone should try to decrease the file size - with the own preferred software - I will spent enthusiastic applause! The model has been created with » Creo Parametric 2.0 « - just for fun, and improving my skills in surface modelling and rendered animation. The animation has been done with »KeyShot 4« and tooks a time of round about 20 hours. Parameters of animation: 25 frames/second ; Time = 10 s ; Total Frames = 250 ; Rotational Speed about two axis = 6/min I hope you can enjoy this attractive model! The model is available in the following formats: STEP-file (.stp) and STL-file (.stl) for a possible 3D-printing.
