OASIS: Solar Zeolite Water Harvester OASIS is an innovative, solar-powered water harvesting system designed to address the chronic issue of drinking water scarcity in desert and hilly regions. Conventional solutions such as reverse osmosis plants, tanker supply, and atmospheric water generators either require feedwater, rely on expensive logistics, or consume large amounts of electricity. OASIS offers a sustainable and decentralized alternative by extracting potable water directly from ambient air using Zeolite 13X adsorption technology. The system operates on a simple adsorption–desorption cycle. At night, battery-powered fans draw in filtered air, and zeolite trays capture water vapor even at low humidity levels (10–30%). During the day, solar panels power an electric heater and compressor that release and condense the stored vapor into liquid water. The water is then filtered, UV-sterilized, and stored in a 6-liter tank for safe consumption. Compact and semi-portable (weighing ~50 kg), OASIS produces approximately 3 liters of clean drinking water per day, making it ideal for small households and rural communities. Its design emphasizes low maintenance, energy independence, and user-friendliness, ensuring reliability in harsh and remote environments. Key Benefits: Fully solar-powered with minimal battery use. No dependence on feedwater, reducing brine waste unlike RO systems. Year-round water generation, independent of rainfall. Scalable and modular for community-level use. Improves health, education, and livelihoods by providing a stable water source. With an estimated lifespan of 8–10 years and a payback period of 3–5 years, OASIS combines sustainability, affordability, and practicality, empowering underserved communities with resilience and independence.
