My original design of an 8 leaf (double layer) iris box. It uses a linked mechanism, similar to those expanding sphere toys, which allows it to open to a large diameter. In fact any number of leaves could be used for this type of mechanism and many variations of it could be made. The mechanism utilises printed ridged pins and holes which clip together.

I have since designed many other iris boxes which you can find on my design page: https://www.thingiverse.com/BrienAllison/designs including an improved version of this design: Octo-box V2 https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3665610.
I also have premium designs which you can find on my MyMiniFactory page: https://www.myminifactory.com/users/Brien%20Allison

The box is 80mm overall in diameter, while the container opening is around 62mm. It is opened by pushing the notches in the top of the box in an anti-clockwise direction.

No supports are required for any of the parts.

The hinges of the mechanism use ridged pins and holes tha
