This is a larger scalable version of the brilliant OpenScan 3d Scanner designed using EMT conduit. In this configuration you can scan on object within an 18" or 455mm envelope. It requires an additional stepper motor and a small modification to the original arduino sketch. You can scale this design by increasing the lengths of the EMT conduit. The NEMA 17 Motors have sufficient torque to move an unweighted rotor, but counterweights are necessary for larger/heavier objects.
This is a work in progress. The frame is complete, but the design will still be modified and refined. A quick release, modular turntable for work holding is being prototyped as is a system to counterbalance the rotor.
This version is designed to use the original OpenScan electronics. Modify the original Arduino sketch by doubling the motor steps for the rotor axis.
Changes include:
EMT Frame (3/4" ID, 23.5mm OD
Dual NEMA 17 rotational axis
608zz bearings at axis of rotation
8mm bolts with nylon lock
