For a good compromise between speed and resolution I wanted a reduction of around 2:1 for my 3d printers but all the available extruders I found had a gear ratio of ~5:1. So I've designed this Extruder early 2015 to replace the direct drive extruders I used prior on my 3d printers.

It's been working very precisely and reliably so I decided to share it.

Changing filaments can be done done quickly by pushing the lever up a little.

Filament size: 1.75mm
Bowden push fit: designed for M5
Filament Pulley: Ø6.5 mm
Gear reduction: 20:41 -> 1:2.05

Steps per mm ( 1.8° Stepper with 16 MS): 310 steps/mm
max mm/s for retractions (12V, Pololu A4988 on Ramps 1.4): over 70mm/s
