Essentially for this project you need two things: a board to glue the pieces onto, and some .50 caliber, steel, round shot (usually sold for slingshots). The aluminum order rails that you can buy at Restaurant depot use marbles instead of steel balls, but the steel balls seem to work best (probably a density thing). I printed the pieces at a relatively high infill, though it likely doesn't matter since the walls are so thin.
I glued the pieces to a long strip of hardboard so that you can write on whatever paper is being held up by the order rail, and its way easier to glue the print to a board than to glue the pieces to each other, since there is such little surface area where they would meet.
The nice thing about printing your own order rail--rather than buying one from RD or some such place--is that you can print as many middle sections as you want; the length of your order rail is only confined by how much filament you have!
I got good results with both PLA and PETG; other
