Well I wanted something to mount sensors and not look like junk electronics so I doubled the size of the owl to about 160mm in height. It's been hollowed out and supports for a HS55 servo is provided and a removeable base to get to the battery.
The head has been modified so these IR sensors fit perfectly in the eye sockets.

They draw about 10ua's a piece so they are wired hot to the 3v3 volt line and provide a high wakeup signal on movement. The nose of the owl provides a divider so it can sense left and right to a better degree.
You only need to print with supports to the base of the shelf in the Head and to the top of the branch the Owl sits on.
I hope this makes a good base for your project.
Cheers
