This is a light-duty vise base that can adjust in two axes and use a variety of work holding 'heads'. It is just the base. A head is anything you can dream up for holding work that mounts on a 3/8" or 10mm hardwood dowel (see photo). I experimented with some printed heads, but the very simple spring clamp on a stick is the one that I end up using most.
An assembly diagram is included as a PDF with a list of hardware needed. Instructions are the same for the metric version, but substitute an M8x50 hex bolt, M8 nut, and M8 washer.
There are FreeCAD files for both versions if you want/need to make any modifications.
Enjoy. Please post any interesting work holding 'heads' you come up with.
