Hi ! This is project is about designing and printing stiff and NO play bearing. What are preloaded bearings ? The idea of preloaded bearings is to applied a constant pressure on the balls to be sure there is no play inside the bearing. When you tighten screws on the bearing, it compress the rings onto the balls. And force can travel through every component like the image on the side. The parametric design In the files, you will find a parametric fusion360 file. In this file you are able to easily change dimensions like diameter, thickness, number of screws,… The image beside shows where to find this parameters. For things like screws sizes, I didn't do parameters but you can change this size on the historic at the bottom of the page. Beside the printed parts, You will need some steel ball. I found mine on aliexpress. Printing You will need one instance of every part to get a bearing. All parts don't require supports. You will have to pay attention to the bed adhesion to be sure that parts don't warp. I printed it in PETG because it will last longer than PLA due to forces. Important settings : Do more walls than “standard” parts like 5-6 minimum. The Z-seam need to be on random to minimize its impact on smoothness Assembling Assembling is pretty straight forward. Add cage and lower ring inside the outer ring Place every steel ball Add some lubricant or grease for more smoothness Place the top inner ring Screw all the needed screws (don't thight them to much, it's more on the feeling when you turn the bearing) Here is a short of me building it ! Comments If modifications are needed or if you have questions, you can write me directly ! Check my page for more designs :)
