PEEP = Positive End-expiratory Pressure Valve This is an experimental, highly configurable PEEP valve design (for 22mm tube systems), which can utilize a spring or a rubber band to maintain the opening pressure level. PEEP valves are used in ventilation systems, to maintain ~20cmH2O pressure in the hood. The initiative for the design came from a FB discussion on chances to 3D print a PEEP valve to non-invasive ventilation systems - to increase the capacity in case a commercial valve is not available on the market due to the COVID19 situation. The original idea - to use a ping-pong ball as a valve coming from James Rink (surgeon in the UK), and this is a solution proposal from my side to his idea. The design - by intention, built only on standard components, like a flat-seal from garden pipe system, a ping-pong ball, rubber band, standard springs. Most parameters can be configured, like ball diameter, ball clearance, thread clearance, thread pitch, connecting tube parameters, spring parameters, etc... There are two variants: with or without seal ring, and it can be printed without support. The design was quickly checked on an anesthetic circuit with positive results.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which 3D printer is suitable for PEEP valve?
Any FDM printer should handle PEEP valve just fine. It's been printed on machines like Bambu Lab A1 Mini, Prusa Mini+, Creality Ender 3, most FDM printers. A minimum build volume of 50 mm is recommended.
Does PEEP valve need supports when printing?
No supports needed for PEEP valve — it's designed to print clean off the bed.
What file format is PEEP valve available in?
PEEP valve is available in STEP, STL format. These files can be opened and sliced using free software such as Cura, PrusaSlicer, Bambu Studio, or OrcaSlicer for FDM printing, or ChiTuBox and Lychee Slicer for resin printing. The download is provided through GrabCAD.
Is PEEP valve free to download?
Yes, PEEP valve is available as a free download through GrabCAD. Always check the license on the original platform to understand commercial use, remixing, and attribution requirements.
