The name comes from the Greek and means "with five lines". It is a mystical symbol of a pentagon from which five isosceles triangles extend. Two points point to the earth, two to the sides and one point to the sky. Among other things, it is a symbol for mathematics and astronomy. In the Middle Ages, it was used particularly strongly as a defensive symbol against evil, including demons and witches. An inverted pentagram is a sign of the devil. It is also called the Drude's foot.
