This small vase shape is formed from a circle at the bottom, a filleted 7-sided polygon at the top, and an intermediate curve about 2/3 of the way up from the bottom. All 3 serve as the control curves for a Loft surface.
When I looked at the resulting shape I thought it should be more interesting, so I decided to poke holes in it. This is the final result.
To make the holes I created a circular array of 7 solid elliptical pipes, scaled them up in size to make a stack 4 layers high, and then used them as Boolean cutters to subtract them from the Loft shape.
This is a challenging print to make because the top edges of the top row of holes need supports. I didn't use them in the print I made, so I had to do some post-print cleanup by hand. Depending on the printer you have you may only be able to print this if you make your own supports.
My print completed in 8 1/4 hours using a print speed of 110 mm/sec and layer height of 0.200 mm.
