This is designed to use a 6" hole saw to cut at hole in a plastic tote to convert it into a pet box. I designed this with cats in mind, but it would work with small dogs, as well. It uses a short #8 screw to hold the latch on. I screw it in until the latch has the action that I want, then supper glue it in place from the back of the screw. It uses #6 screws and nuts to hold it to the tote. The backing plate holds the nuts in place and makes up for any misalignment of the door with the hole. Use the door frame to drill the holes for the screws to get proper alignment. A piece of 1/8" steel rod is used for the hinge. For metric users, the screws would be M4 for the latch, M3.5 for the attachment bolts and 3mm rod for the hinge. I've made two of these and they have worked well. The PLA has held up fine and unless you have a really fat cat, they should fit through the opening. Whether they are willing to go is another story. Giving them a treat after they are in makes it progre
