Shipbrook's model is fantastic, but I found the clipping mechanism for attaching the type 1 phaser body to the type II body somewhat less than robust for my needs. So I threw together this little widget.
You will need 8mm magnets ( got a bunch in a packet at hardware store, I am assuming they are all sourced from same manufacturers, so size shouldn't be an issue)
assembly:
1) First, glue one magnet to bottom of the type I phaser, where here is a round indent. let this harden before doing any other steps.
2) then, making sure you get orientation right on second magnet to mate with first, press fit into the bracket. To be safe, you can glue it in as well.
3) The package of magnets I bought came with a bunch. Use spare magnets to act as a "handle" to manipulate your bracket/magnet combo.
4) Put glue on the ears of the bracket and using the magnet handle, place it roughly into place in type II phaser body. make sure glue has enough grab to hold it in place, then re
