I recently received a 24in x 18 in charcoal type artwork drawing as a gift. I wasn't quite sure what I was going to do- I had no frame that size. Frame stores can charge quite a bit for a 24x18 in frame. So I thought of 3D printing, but I couldn't make a single piece frame that large. So I created a set of frame pieces that could flexibly be put together with small pegs to create picture frames of multiple sizes.
My 24x18 assembly was handled by
4 corner pieces 6in x 6in
2 12in extension pieces
2 6 in extension pieces
8 accent pieces to help hold the pegged pieces together better.
16 26mm hex pegs
I then added additional components in 3 inch size increments.
So we have corners
3 in x 3 in
6 in x 6 in
3 in left x 6 in right
6 in left x 3 in right
Extensions: 3in, 6in, 9in, 12in
(These extension have the keyhole for a nail or wall mounting screw. So if you require mounting- an extension is needed in your assembly)
Hex pegs - 2 required between each
