Math 401: Mathematics Through 3D Printing
This assignment is about the 17 different groups of Euclidean symmetries preserving a lattice named: p1, p2, pm, pg, cm, pmm, pmg, pgg, cmm, p4, p4m, p4g, p3, p31m, p3m1, p6, and p6m. The chosen one for me was the PMM symmetric tilling.
A PMM symmetric tiling is a type of wallpaper tiling that has mirror symmetry along the x-axis and y-axis, and rotational symmetry of 180 degrees.
The printing process at George Mason University's Makerspace went smoothly as the design was sliced and produced. I had two distinct items to print: an irregular polygon, which required approximately four hours of printing time, and a set of squares, which were completed in just 40 minutes.
I have utilized the Wallpaper Pattern website to assist me in visualizing the pattern I would like to create. It was very helpful. Here is the link below:
