I have outdoor planter boxes and container gardens around the house and needed something that could accomplish two things.
Keep the:
1. Soil from drying out during dry spells
2. Squirrels from digging in the planter
After a few iterations I came up with these. They allow water and air to get into the soil but dramatically reduce the amount of evaporation during hot dry periods.
There are two sizes optimized for different printer sizes:
- Ender 3 sized printers
- Larger beds like Ender 3 Max / CR-10
I printed these in PLA and then put on 3 coats of white spray paint. I tried printing them in white PLA but they deformed in the sun in just a a few hours.
I haven't done it yet, but will experiment with stacking the prints like this -

I have also included the .step file so you can play around with it.
