Belonging to the pliosaurids, it had a massive, broad skull, powerful jaws, and large conical teeth adapted for seizing slippery prey. Unlike long-necked plesiosaurs, Pliosaurus had a short neck and a streamlined body built for speed and strength. It likely fed on fish, cephalopods, and other marine reptiles.
