My name is Mathis Kremer and I created this tiling for George Mason University Math 401: Mathematics Through 3D Printing. I named it "pmm Planes" because it was made with the use of pmm symmetries exercised in a wallpaper-symmetry software. The pmm symmetry group is defined by a rectangular lattice type, two rotation orders, and 90 degree reflection axes. My goal was to make two distinct planes with the use of two tiles.
This print took three and a half hours to complete. No raft or supports were needed. However, extra glue on the 3D-printer's surface was needed as the first attempt was lost due to loose plastic sliding around.
To code this print, I made use of makerscad software (link is posted below). I made several polygons with this software because it allowed me to see my polygon as I constructed it. It gave me a better visual of what I was doing real-time. I used this method on the base polygon and also on its decorations.
