This is an abstract shape made using OpenScad's scripting abilities. I watched an episode of Maker's Muse (hi!) that talked about an older open source project for generating procedural shapes. It seemed like I could make the same kinds of things pretty quickly using OpenScad, so I gave it a try. This is one of the results. The .scad file is included for those who want to tinker with it. The code for something like this is short, and can be made shorter with some attention to technique ;).
Note: this is pretty challenging to print using FFF. Most intermediate enthusiasts can get a better print than I can, but I am still working on my support-making and bridging skills, and trying to dial in my printer (a FolgerTech i3 2020). You can see from the photos that I still have some surface problems, and my over-the-top supports did not separate as well as I had hoped. Lesson learned: supports will fuse to each other even though they are configured to separate from the print, apparently. Hav
