Profile Offset Scriber (POS)

A little tool I made for a specific task, but could be handy for lots of things.

Designed to mark a line a set distance from a straight or curved edge. Works with concave and convex curves.

Uses 2 cheap ubiquitous skate roller bearings.

I have included the STEP file so you can modify it as you see fit. Like I said I made it for a specific job so unlikely to spend any more time on it as it works for what I needed it for. But if I was to make it again, I would reduce the spacing between the ball bearings and redesign the slide so that you can create an offset line closer to the edge.

Simple to print, orientation etc should be self explanatory. I included a 'captive nut' in Part 2 by pausing the print and dropping in an M4 nut. This was for the slide adjuster lock. But the slide ended up being a nice tight fit so you could probably get away without a lock at all.

I used an M3 screw for the pencil retention. I think any self tapper would work. Ikea pencils work great in her
