Yes, this is based of Captain Kirk's chair from the original Star Trek series. However, this is an example for a lesson for a high school level theatrical design course taught virtually in the fall of 2020 (COVID-19).
Students will have created a non-traditional setting for a production of Shakespeare's "The Tempest". In my example, I have set the show in the future. Students will be asked to design a chair or throne for Prospero, the main character.
Once designed, drawn and printed, students will learn model painting techniques to include the 3D printed chair in the model of their set design.
