Guide: Qidi Plus 4 Under-Extruder Cutter Relocation
This mod relocates the filament cutter to the output of the extruder, allowing for cleaner cuts and better compatibility with MMU systems like Happy Hare.
Prerequisites
Printed Parts: The 4-piece mod set (Inlay, Mount, Cutter Arm, and Fan Shroud).
I printed them from ABS-CF
Hardware: * (2) M3 Heat-set inserts.
(1) Short M3 screw (for the additional mounting point).
Original hardware from the Qidi extruder assembly.
Tools: Soldering iron (for inserts), Hex keys, and a small metal file.
Step 1: Disassembly
Unplug the printer and remove the two M3 screws securing the extruder assembly to the carriage. Unplug the filament Sensor. Remove the bowden tube. Remove the entire assembly.
Unscrew and remove the original cutter arm.
With the arm out of the way, you can now access and remove the screws holding the original mounting bracket. Remove the bracket.
Locate the two small screws hold
