Baseball post-season has arrived, and I like to listen to an AM station located about 90 miles away.
A very weak signal often improves when you move the radio around, turn it upside-down, sideways, etc., since the internal ferrite AM antenna is reoriented, toward the station and / or away from electrical interference.
So I thought this gimbal (2-axis) might be worth the effort. It can hold the radio in virtually any orientation.
The largest part was too big for my Afinia's 5.5 inch square build plate. I split that in two and welded the two halves together. Welds are very strong. And it's clean and fast.
See detail Photos, also this welding rod project for further info. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1807093

The radio is a Grundig G6 Aviator. It's a good little radio. Good sensitivity and good signal to noise ratio.
High quality electronics also means AM reception won't be improved much just by moving the radio around. The gimbal helps sometimes, but this radio r
