These OpenSCAD files were created as part of an art project exploring randomness in text-generated art. I never printed any of these, but I included some example STLs that were exported from these files.

ArtRand1 - Rings of uniformly scaled spheres that scale down uniformly in X and Y each layer. Each layer has some randomized degree or rotation.

ArtRand2 - The same as ArtRand1, but the XY scale of the spheres in each ring now increases uniformly about that ring to form a spiral and make the randomized rotation of each layer more obvious.

ArtRand3 - Gives more control over some variables. Each layer is still identical except for XY scale, but the magnitude of that scale is now randomized and the height (Z) of each sphere in the ring is now randomized. This version also allows for a randomized number of layers and a randomized number of spheres in each layer.

In the future, I would like to create a version where each layer scales differently in X and Y, and/or a version wher

Frequently Asked Questions
Which 3D printer is suitable for Randomized Rings?
Any FDM printer should handle Randomized Rings just fine. It's been printed on machines like Bambu Lab A1 Mini, Prusa Mini+, Creality Ender 3, most FDM printers. A minimum build volume of 50 mm is recommended.
Does Randomized Rings need supports when printing?
No supports needed for Randomized Rings — it's designed to print clean off the bed.
What file format is Randomized Rings available in?
Randomized Rings is available in STL format. These files can be opened and sliced using free software such as Cura, PrusaSlicer, Bambu Studio, or OrcaSlicer for FDM printing, or ChiTuBox and Lychee Slicer for resin printing. The download is provided through Thingiverse.
Is Randomized Rings free to download?
Yes, Randomized Rings is available as a free download through Thingiverse. Always check the license on the original platform to understand commercial use, remixing, and attribution requirements.
