This is a project to build on the idea of a raspberry pi telescope using a 5MP raspicam at the focal point of a Newtonian telescope. The augmentation is to add geolocation and automatic object finding using a wifi link to Stellarium... and open source celestial object tracker.
This is a work in progress and the design changes as I build it. Putting it out here for inspiration or input.
I am using a Pi 2 with an Adafruit Motor Hat and an Adafruit GPS Hat.
Recycled stepper motors from an old, large dot matrix printer. The base of the unit is a recycled brake rotor for weight and stability. The rest of the frame is constructed from plexiglass and aluminum, pop riveted. The telescope tube is 6" PVC. Purchased a 1000mm focal length concave mirror from Amazon.
