Ratcheting Tensegrity Table

I came up with this design after getting frustrated with measuring string and tightening knots at just the right height to get a tensegrity table to sit level and stay tensioned.

This tensegrity table includes a ratchet system on the bottom to easily string and tension the table without having to fiddle with the height of each corner. A single 0.7 mm (0.029 in) diameter monofilament fishing line snakes through the interior of the top and bottom plate with each end connecting to a hidden ratchet mechanism inside the base. After you have connected both ends of the fishing line to the ratchet, cranking the ratchet will tension all four corners at once. The struts need to be knotted together first and are held in place when the table is tensioned. No glue needed.

If you accidentally over tighten the table or need to restring it for any reason, you can pinch together any of the tables corners (top to base) which will take the tension off of the ratchet.
