Makes
Portable fan for extra cooling on Surface Pro laptops.
The fan can be flipped and stached inside the main body for reduced footprint when on the move.
BOM:
- 1x 8010 5v fan
- 1x old power cable (USB A)
- 4x m2.5 5mm screws
- 4x 6x3mm magnets
- PLA
Instructions:
- Super glue all four magnets to the fan screw mounts.
- Fasten all four screws to the main body.
- Super glue the screen clip to the lip of the main body.
- Solder fan wires to a male usb if required.
If you are using type-C ensure the male module is 5v PD/QC trigger board and don't break it like I did. I ended up using a type-A with a relevant adapter for type-C ports as a work around.
Furthermore, the fan is already super quiet but to reduce noise even more I added a layer of electrical tape to the inside of the screen clip.
