RGB Status Indicator Beacons are found on most commercial CNC machines and are a helpful tool to visually see the current status of a machine.
My design is a version to work with most 3D printers that have the capability of driving RGB LEDs by M150 or G42 codes.
The lens can be printed with transparent filament, or you can use poly-carbonate or acrylic tubing that has a 2" OD with 1.875" ID. The tube is cut to 1" OL.
The top is secured with M4 socket head screws. The base has brass M4 inserts melted in place.
The RGB LED strip is cut to length, the wires are routed through the slide slot and secured with the adhesive backing. I have also used 2" OD clear shrink tubing to secure further.
The wire is routed through the bottom slots of the base and within the T-slot extrusion. Or, use the FLUSH version of the base to route the wire out the bottom slot.
