Riemann surface are complex manifold. They are a special kind of complex plane but the way they are formed can be thought as broken. They often fold into themselves and can form sphere.
This one in particular has been formed by exponent of r exponent i theta. the shape that it is formed can be seen as a chip. Though if it continues it starts to fold onto it self.
The print was finished with addition of a cylderic base but any base will do or pillar to hold in in the middle. While forming a cylinder is simple it is not simply done in code since it is normally worked in imaginary field so has to be added post riemann.
